Guess I'll start at the beginning. It was a nice day out on manus peak. A fresh faced clone in a shiny new suit was on the field. He was lost in a sea of inputs from 4 eyes in 2 different wavelength coverages, still trying to figure out the grenades, emptying clips into air when he saw anything moving.
It was that day when he saw something that changed his entire outlook on combat. A cadre of amarr suits charging in square formation.
"this is it. I'm going to die."
He screamed, closed his eyes and held down the trigger.
there was a sudden roar amidst the sound of his rifle, then explosions. when he finally opened his eyes he looked around and saw it, a tank fixated on where there were formerly amarr suits. and around him, the heartless caldari.
He began to fumble around for a new clip, praying they hadn't seen him. There was suddenly a hand on his shoulder "Relax kid. We're on the same side for now" Whirling around, he came face to face with his supposed enemy.
"HOI! Someone rep the kid, his suit's in shreds!" the man was right, his armor readout was under 20%
"What were you thinking just standing there and opening fire like that?" Having no answer, he just stood there and shook like a leaf trapped in the wind.
"Damn I swear they'll let anyone who knows what end the bullets come out on the field these days, let's start off and make sure the implant is even working. What's your callsign?"
"Uh, Heathen Bastard, sir"
"So you can speak! And drop the sir, We're all mercenaries here, no ranks."
"Thanks for saving me, i thought I was going to die."
"Oh, you will."
"What?!"
The caldari chuckled "yeah kid, what you thought immortal was unkillable?"
"Maybe... We gallente have the toughest armor this side of anywhere"
"Heh, it's an expensive, overworked tin can to anyone fielding minmatar munitions"
"Well what if I don't want to die?"
"then use a tank. Most of the munitions on the field are specifically slanted against your "toughest armor" though, so if you don't mind the lack of frilly doilies or whatever you guys are used to, I'd suggest a caldari make like my gunloggi here."
"But you guys are evil, you'll sacrifice everything so that you gain a single isk."
"really? Why'd I save you then? listen. the big 4 are planning to wipe us all out we'll need every hand on deck just to survive"
"how should I start?"
"Man that turret for now. Start reading up on your tank operations whenever you're between deployments. Oh, and get used to efficiency over frills if you can."
Ah the past.
Still waiting on the new catalogs to come in next month. supposedly the current models are being tweaked in a pretty big way. |
